About the Artist
Name: Muhammad Haroon
School: Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts)
Program: Bachelor of Fine Arts - Painting
Bio: I am drawn to art through a love of storytelling and visual symbolism. My work blends realism with abstract elements to explore identity, culture, and the emotional textures of everyday life.
Inspired by Alberta’s vast landscapes and shifting light, I use bold colours, layered brushwork, and mixed media to capture both internal and external worlds. My paintings often reflect personal narratives and explore themes such as memory, belonging, and transformation.
When not in the studio, I am actively involved in local art events and community exhibitions, always seeking to grow, collaborate, and connect through creative practice.
About the Artwork
Medium: Paint on Canvas
Size: 36"W x 48"H x 1.5"D
Artistic Statement: "Still Within" explores the quiet power of introspection. In this piece, I wanted to capture more than just the physical likeness of the subject—I aimed to reflect an inner world, one that holds both vulnerability and strength. The soft textures and muted tones suggest a calm surface, while subtle contrasts and layered brushwork hint at deeper, unspoken emotions beneath.
This work is part of my ongoing exploration of identity and the spaces we create within ourselves to think, feel, and exist without noise. I try to honor the complexity of being—where stillness doesn’t mean emptiness, but presence. "Still Within" is a moment—one of pause, reflection, and quiet resilience.
